3-D Animation and its Role in Learning and Training – by Rajat Arora


Childhood is related to animals and creatures weaving stories full of laughter, frolic, and fun. There was a time when these cartoons let’s say 2-D, or were just two dimensional. Technology has come a very long way and we have animated movies which are replicas of the world, today. All cartoons have a thickness that missed. Today animations are as is known as, 3-D, or three dimensional.
What is 3-D animation?
Animation is all about combining a collection of pictures of objects and creating an optical illusion of those objects in movement. It contributes to the animation, when this is done using versions.
Benefits of 3-D animation in learning and training
Concepts can be educated in ways with the help of different kinds of media. The conventional method relied heavily on novels. While books can package in plenty of information and knowledge, the benefits of the electronic medium cannot be overlooked.
Content comes alive
As a student you’re learning about the root canal procedure in dentistry. Which of those two would you prefer–to read about its description in a book with supporting narration or watch a cartoon of this procedure? Most probably, the second option, since it will give you a genuine life-like experience of viewing it being performed before you live (Figure 1).

The option will likely be preferable if we believe this in the teacher’s perspective. A show-and-tell will probably be easier to guarantee understanding than reading from a publication. The same goes for all other areas of learning in school, school, as well as in the workplace.
Concepts simplified
How does one explain the functioning of the heart to students (Figure 2)? Textbooks are no doubt an invaluable source of understanding but a procedure becomes much easier to understand when accompanied by a 3-D animation video of their heart working.

In fields like medicine, which need comprehensive study, this can be useful since animation has an edge over verbal or content that is static. To an aspiring physician, an animation of how a person suffers a heart attack can help him/her understand the condition (Figure 3).

Application based
3-D animation can be of help — when a learner must acquire new understanding of resources, places, or objects — in any business and in almost any field. With the help of animation every learner can be provided an encounter that was true. These cartoons can be reused in interactions and make interactive practice content for learners (Figure 4).

3-D cartoons are frequently utilized in immersive learning options (3-D interactive instruction, AR, VR, virtual environments) to instruct and provide learners with an environment to practice their skills in a virtual world. One benefit of this is that a mistake made here would not have any implications in real life, which makes it safe to take risks and learn from errors.
Animation is used to replicate the real-world encounter. Flight Simulator allows the pilot to control the plane in a virtual environment before flying a plane. This omits conserves time, and any danger of accident and resources. In an environment that is simulating, we define the cartoons to perform as per the user’s input signal. This creates an infinite number of chances and cartoons.
In the event the student doesn’t have experience, performing an operation on a patient that is true can be harmful. Employing 3-D animations in a simulating environment, we can replicate the surgical procedure that allows the student to practice the operation (Figure 5). Simulations can be applied to various fields of research –distance, aviation, mechanics, medicine, and the operation are some ones that were notable.

When it comes to imparting a lesson, one of the greatest challenges is to keep the learner engaged. With animation this problem was cared for to a great extent. Animated videos draw attention and it is tough to lose interest and let the mind wander off, when there’s a concept or idea being conveyed through it. There are elements that increase the learners’ participation. Organic animation is one of these. After the movement and movement is exactly similar to live animals, the animation content gets more engaging (Figure 6). That is animation strings like hand movement and walking, lip-syncing take a lot of work and polishing to bring about that authentic life-like feeling.

Another aspect of the animation is currently replicating the physics of this real-world. This entails implementing attributes like gravitation and force in thing movements and crashes. Visual learning
It is a proven actuality that the brain processes visual data 60,000 times faster than text. Animation, with the benefit of 3-D, is not only experiencing although seeing visuals. Thus, in regards to learning with the help of experiencing real life-like scenarios, the effect and retention grow manifold. This is why the concept or any sensible procedure taught through 3-D animation or simulation skills. The ECG or EKG procedure has been educated through the help of all animations. This teaching element that is supportive increases the understanding capability manifold.
It also has immense application in physics and physics, where learners face difficulties to realize the procedure.

Animation has the capability to take one into a world that is fantastical. There was a time when animation was only used for entertainment purposes. However it is now being used to assist learners learn and educators teach. VR, interactive training, AR–all these have an element that is private that is common –animation.
It is also true animation must be utilized and this calls for good use of technologies available to us that to make an appealing learning module. By replicating tones and textures of objects and environments designers need to ensure to make true to life worlds. The animators must guarantee a representation, to compliment the designers. Creating 3-D animation-based learning content can be a tightrope walk but with research and a blend of content and technology, this catchy task can be tackled.
