How We Did It: Engage Your Learners with a Pop-Up Escape Room

In October of 2018, I attended GamiCon in Chicago and Obtained the idea of a pop-up escape room.

That night, back at my hotel, I thought,”I could do this, and that I know precisely how we would use it at my companion.” We conducted our own escape room pilot three weeks later.
A escape room is based on the exact same concept as a normal escape space, but can be run in any type of space, with nearly any number of individuals. Teams compete against one another, and nobody is really”locked” in a space.
We included our escape room obstacle after lunch, just into the day of our new hire onboarding program.
As of December 2019, we’ve had over 500 Paycor hires participate in this game. This activity permits them to work with individuals from different departments, helps has them operate in teams, and engages learners. They love it and your own employees would!
How does this function?
Learners, in tiny groups, work together to find out”clue words” to get tips to figure out the unlock code. Sounds easy doesn’t it? It is not enjoyable, When a game is too easy.

The game involves 10 clue objects placed. One learner from every team scans a QR code that brings our hint entry program up in their phone’s browser. They type into the program in their guess. They receive a hint of the 10 digits of the unlock code for a few When it’s right. The first team to figure out the code belongs into the facilitator’s laptop and types the code. If it’s right, the doorway in the program opens, they’re magically outside, and the game is over. We present certificates.

Clue words and hint objects
One of the most important things in this game is currently picking the right clue words and locating. By way of example, one of our hint words is”Perform”, which can be one of our software solutions. If groups give the facilitator a”hint voucher,” the facilitator provides them a clue but not an answer.
