New features such as gamification, social mobile and microlearning are undoubtedly effective and impressive but, there are several other components that play a huge role in the selection of any new LMS.
Before you become besotted from the’bells and whistles’ of a new LMS, here are five points to take into account.
1. Think beyond the LMS
Set into context and think about how their learning could be applied by your students from the world beyond the LMS. Make sure your LMS enables you to establish activities and tasks to complete within their workplace.
Top Tip: Think of work assignments that may be undertaken outside the LMS — mentoring sessions, presenting seminars or creating videos.
2. Connectivity is key

Top Tip: Some LMS integrations will require technical support, so it is important to be certain that your provider has for work or you together with your IT staff competent teams that can do so.
3. Backwards compatibility
If you have an LMS, it is very likely that you will have a library of material that is compatible.
